OZ516 is a compact and modular series that consists of individual linear (analog) Transmitter (Tx) and Receiver (Rx) modules. Combined, it creates a fiberoptic or analog over fiber one-way unidirectional link. An excellent cost-effective flexible alternative to using coaxial cable for long distance connectivity, offering efficient long-range transport of high frequency RF signals in their native format reliably, across a broad range of frequencies. The link has low Noise Figure (NF) and high Spurious Free Dynamic Range (SFDR), with operational frequencies from 47 MHz to 6 GHz, or more.

The OZ516 is designed as a compact RF plug-in package that is easily integrated into existing platforms. This simple plug and play device has a very low failure rate with an MTTF at room temperature of 20 years. Virtually any analog RF signal that falls within its bandwidth range can be transported over fiber optic cable using OZ516 modules. Typical applications for which the OZ516 can be utilized include, but are not limited to, IF Satcom Band, L Band, S Band, C Band, GPS, PCS Cellular, Wi-Max, 4G LTE, VHF, UHF, QAM, Timing and Frequency signal distribution over fiber.

Standard optical connector is SC/APC for low back reflection, but FC/APC and LC/APC are also available. OZ516 Rx features a high performance InGaAs photodiode and Tx is based upon a linear Isolated and direct modulated DFB Laser operating at 1.3 µm or 1.5 µm (CWDM wavelength range is also available). Average Automatic Power Control (AAPC) is incorporated for optimal optical power stability over the full temperature range. RF interface is via a 50 Ohm SMA connector and optional 75 Ohm SMB is also available. Alarm and monitoring functions are available through the 10 pin IDB connector and +12 Volts DC power is fed through same connector.
